I never had the chance to read Shakespeare's original piece, as I started attendning the 'english' section of the european school a year after they had studied it. In a way I'm happy about that though, I have a feeling that at the age of 14 I would probably not have been Will's biggest fan.
However, last year I watched Baz Luhrman's interpretation of the legendary love story for the first time. To be honest I didn't enjoy it. That's probably partly because I wasn't paying a lot of attention to the cinematography, or the script. Shame on me. Also, I was slightly prejudice about it because of Moulin Rouge ( I've never managed to suffer through the whole thing).
Last weekend I decided to give it another go and guess what. I loved it. The costumes, the colours, and of course Leo and Claire. Oh and of course the soundtrack! I didn't catch myself yawnign once and I think there might have been a tear or two in the end. I'm curious to see Zeffireli's version, but I'm scared, I want to like it and I have a feeling that it might be slightly on the boring side.
