Ben Howard in Paradiso, Amsterdam

Ben Howard was in Paradiso yesterday, for the first time I think. I was lucky enough to get a ticket before the whole thing was sold-out and enjoyed every minute of it!
If you're not sure who Ben Howard is, or what he does, have a quick listen, I promise you won't regret it !

Under The Same Sun by Ben Howard

The first time I saw Ben was at Lowlands 2011 and it was really magnificent. One of my favorite acts, a band who hadn't yet released an album! It's the style of his songs, mellow yet filled with emotion. The way he plays the guitar is also quite special, oh and how the other members sort of change between instruments. Chris Bond, the drummer, at times was seen holding a guitar and beating the drums, while India Bourne, the cellist, would play the bass and kettle drums at times.

Crete

This Easter vacation I went back to Greece, Athens and Crete. It was really great to see everyone again. It felt really good to be back home, I got welcomed very warm-heartedly and however corny this might sound I felt loved. Everyone was so warm, despite all the social/economic/political unrest the country is going through right now. I'd rather not discuss that however, I want to post a couple of pictures from Spinalonga.

Spinalonga is a tiny island a few houndred meters across the coast of Elounda, in North-Eastern Crete. Until 1957 it was used as a leper colony.

With my friends Tonia & Nikoleta we visited and toured the tiny island which is fileld with remains...

Florence @ Paradiso, Amsterdam

It's been 11 days, but only now do I finally have a chance to rant about that awesome night, awesome in the literal sense rather than the skater-use.

First of all, I would like to say that the only way this show could have possibly been better would be if they were playing in a secluded forest, unaware that I'm hiding on a tree watching them.
Okay, honestly though she was fantastic. The whole band was. Paradiso was completely packed, I was relieved to be there early enough to find a good spot.

Spector opened for Florence and even though their music did not leave me indifferent, their front-man/singer really really annoyed me. I don't think I stand alone here when I say his jokes weren't remotely funny, he did not radiate half the cooleness he thought he did and his HAIR. Wow, I thought Turner (see Arctic Monkeys) had it all wrong, but this guy's was worse. I wouldn't discourage you to buy their music, some of it was pretty catchy, though I wouldn't bother going to see them live. Unless they hire a new singer, which in a way would also be a shame because this guy does have a good voice.

Let me move on to Florence though. The energy the band radiated was like nothing I'd seen before, to be honest. I'm not the expert, but they really know what they're doing, and I don't even mean the quality of their music, but performance-wise. I couldn't stop smiling like an idiot from the moment Florence stepped on stage.

Me and Demi at the show :)

I am filled with pure joy that I managed to see her in Paradiso rather than the Heineken Music Hall, coming November.

90s party

I had a lovely time :)
I was surprised at how few songs I recognised though, but I guess I'm more an early 00s kid rather than 90s..
Did you notice how Kia is Picatchu?
