90ies Party

So I might be going to this 90ies party on Saturday and I need some inspo and ideas about what to wear, how to style my hair etc. I haven't been to a 90ies party, except for original 90ies parties but they were kids' b-day parties and not particularly original obviously.

Well, TV shows and films are the first I turned to:

Clarissa Explains it All

Lizzy Mcguire

Saved by the Bell

Clueless

My So-Called-Life

The Bill Cosby Show

Laura Marling

Sunday I went to Paradiso and saw Laura Marling for the first time :)
Firstly let me just quickly say that the Paradiso is awesome, it was my first show in the 'grote zaal', the bigger out of the two spaces.
Having said that, let me go straight to LAURA.
She was amazing. Adorable, really. Lovely. Charming and just so pleasant to see. Her voice is great, and so are her songs. To be honest I only went because a friend couldn't find someone willing to go see her, but I'm really glad I did. For some reason I had only heard a few of her 'rare' songs, like 'It's Only My Opinion' and 'Candlelight' and recently researched her latest album.

Have a listen, in case you've never heard her:

Also, before I forget let me just say that her band made some awesome fruit art backstage. Oh and Pete Roe (band member) , who also opened for her showed us some "Wheat-and-yeast-based performance art". Basically he juggled slices of bread. TOO COOL.

romeo + juliet

I never had the chance to read Shakespeare's original piece, as I started attendning the 'english' section of the european school a year after they had studied it. In a way I'm happy about that though, I have a feeling that at the age of 14 I would probably not have been Will's biggest fan.

However, last year I watched Baz Luhrman's interpretation of the legendary love story for the first time. To be honest I didn't enjoy it. That's probably partly because I wasn't paying a lot of attention to the cinematography, or the script. Shame on me. Also, I was slightly prejudice about it because of Moulin Rouge ( I've never managed to suffer through the whole thing).

Last weekend I decided to give it another go and guess what. I loved it. The costumes, the colours, and of course Leo and Claire. Oh and of course the soundtrack! I didn't catch myself yawnign once and I think there might have been a tear or two in the end. I'm curious to see Zeffireli's version, but I'm scared, I want to like it and I have a feeling that it might be slightly on the boring side.
